We are looking for a postgraduate student to join us!

Soilsafe Kids has a domestic, fees-only Masters scholarship (to a maximum of $8,947.20 NZD) for a student interested to join our research team.

The thesis would look at kids’ values of soil and what connections they make between soil, nature, and the health of themselves and their communities. In the Soilsafe Kids programme, we examine soil through a variety of lenses and collect kids’ soil values through activities like games, focus groups, and art projects.

Methods will be quantitative and qualitative and include analysis of data collected through workshops with primary school children in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

Applicants from minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply and will be provided with support, guidance and mentorship from scholars who come from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in academia. We welcome applications from students with multi-disciplinary backgrounds, including: geography, health, education, social sciences more broadly, and nursing.

Applicants must meet all university entry criteria into the University of Auckland Master of Science Programme and be willing to start research in semester 2, 2022 at the latest. Applicants must be able to pass a Police Safe Working With Children Check.

Theses of shorter lengths (i.e., fewer points) may be possible.
