Q: Kei te hāngai tonu aku putanga?
A: Tirohia tā mātou mahere mapi ki Map My Environment. He rauemi whakamahere mapi tēnei e taea ai koe te arotahi ki tāu tōu rohenga ki te whakataurite haere i ngā kohinga pūmotu pūehuehu. Ko ngā raraunga e kite nā koe nō Soilsafe Aotearoa, VegeSafe Australia me DustSafe hoki (ko ētahi iratau kua tāpara noatia, he wāhi rāhui ēnei). Mēnā kāore he raraunga kei tō rohenga, ā kāti, ko koe tonu hei tuatahi, tukuna mai he tauira!
Q: Kāore noa iho taku wāhi noho e tino tawhiti, ka taea e au te whakataka noa i aku tauira?
A: ā runga i ngā whakararu a te KŌWHEORI-19, e tono nei mātou kia tukua mai ngā tauira mā te pouaka poutāpeta. E whakapāha nei mātou mō ēnei tūraru.
Q: Me pēhea e riro mai i a au aku putanga?
A: A tukuna ā-īmēra atu ngā putanga ki a koe. Tirohia anō tō urunga para, ka tatū ngā īmēra ki reira i ētahi wā. Mēnā ka eke te 8 wiki, ā, kāore anō kia tae ki a koe, tēnā whakapā mai.

Q: Ko wai e whai mai ana ki aku whakautu, ā, ka tukuna tūmatanuitia ngā pārongo?
A: Kia uru rā anō ngā putanga mō āu tauira oneone ki Map My Environment, ka matapōkere noa te nekehanga atu i ngā wā e whakaurua atu ai ki Map My Environment kia noho tapu tonu ai ngā tauira. Ko tā te mapi he whakaatu noa i te ahungaroa o ngā tauira mokowā mō ngā taumata konganuku kei ngā oneone, ka mutu, kāore ngā wāhi me ngā nōhanga kāinga e whakaaturia mai. Q: How do you analyse my soil sample?
A: Your soil arrives in the post and is delivered to the GNS Science chemistry lab. Here, a technician sorts your various soils and measures each one using a technique called X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy – or XRF for short. See below for more about the XRF technique. The results of the measurement come up on the screen of the attached computer, showing the levels of metals in your soil. We export this data into an individualised report that then gets emailed to you. The whole process takes approximately 20 minutes altogether.
Q: What is X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF)?
A: A technique in which the characteristic X-ray spectrum of your soil is produced by using X-rays of short wavelength from a X-ray source. This induces your soil to fluoresce and emit secondary X-rays of a longer wavelength. Each metal emits unique secondary X-rays meaning the metal type and the metal concentration in your soil can be measured. The photons generated by this process are collected in the instrument detector, before the information is passed through a digital signal processor to the computer. The concentration of each metal in your soil is determined by comparison against standards using a software package.
