In 2024 we’ve been working up a new project based on a pilot we ran in 2022 – this year we introduced the fully-fledged Harvestsafe Aotearoa! This 1-year project has been working alongside 50 māra kai and community gardens in Aotearoa to get a sense of soil contaminants in these important spaces.
This year we also tested more than 5400 soil samples across more than 1100 homes since our programme started in 2021. We continue to test backyard soils, so send through your soil samples!

2025 looks to be a year of consolidation of a bunch of findings backyards to community gardens, soil to dust, and maybe some eggs thrown in the mix – stay tuned! See you in the new year!
